Its a strange journey.

You don’t realise you are aging for many years, as you go about living your life.

You raise your children & proudly watch them grow, but all the time they are adding years, it never occurred to me, so was I.

One day I can remember as clear as day I saw a reflection of myself walking with my teenage son in a shop window, and I stopped dead in my tracks.

Where did that middle age woman who was staring back at me come from?

I looked like & was the olds now, like I always saw my parents.

How did that happen?

Then you have all the things you were able to physically do & took for granted, now you have aches, pains, creaky joints & it’s harder to keep going.

You hear yourself saying I’m too old for that.

We have all the time & effort we have put into people & friendships, who never reciprocated your kindness.

We face death & grief as loved ones age, their life & time has come to an end.

We have to find ourselves again, after being mums forever, then suddenly the kids are off living their lives, and you are left lost & unsure how to live as empty nesters.

If you are blessed you may even get to experience the pure unconditional love, bliss & joy of becoming a Grandparent, seeing the next generation evolving.

As we age, we start to realise who & what is important in our worlds.

We let go of dramas & stress, yearning for a simple peaceful life.

You make your time matter, because you value everything you have & have lost.

You become older & wiser.

Our manes turn to glorious threads of silver or salt & pepper.

We have smile & laughter lines etched into our faces, a monument to time, radiating our inner Crone beauty & wisdom.

Life has an amazing way of humbling you as you age. You realise you have wasted so much time on rubbish & things that don’t matter.

Ageing teaches you not to sweat the small stuff.

Ageing connects you to your own mortality & life’s journey.

Ageing gifts us the ability to walk with wisdom, dignity, ease & grace.

Embrace the ageing process, it’s where we get to reap all we have sown.

Make your life a worthwhile journey, so when you are in the twilight years, your heart & soul purrs with contentment & happiness, reflecting on & celebrating a life well lived.

Something to ponder

Love, light & blessings
