I was blessed with 2 sons.
I love the difference between boys & girls.
We really are made so very different, Mars & Venus, and with my 3 men, I learnt how you work & what makes you tick.
It saddens me when I hear boys being told things like
Don’t be a sook,
Boys don’t cry,
Boys have to be brave & strong
Boys aren’t allowed to be sad or overwhelmed.
Boys get ridiculed by peer pressure if they are sensitive or different.
Boys have their ability of self expression diminished.
Bullshit – we all have the same basic primal needs – to be seen, to be heard, to feel safe, to be loved/nurtured.
Boys have every right & need to express their feelings.
Because that little boy, so sweet & innocent, who never learnt how to express his feelings, because he was made to feel ashamed for being sensitive, will shut them down, will bury them, will disconnect from them, be confused by them, be ignored because of them.
Feel lost, alone, vulnerable & isolated.
Will detach from his heart & become hard.
Will become mind/ego based.
Will become desensitised.
Will become angry, hard & cruel.
Will hurt others, because hurt people hurt people.
What sort of man do you think he’s going to grow up to be?
What do you want your sons to grow up to be?
Certainly not a broken, lost, angry man who constantly feels he fails, or isn’t good enough, or worthy enough.
No, we want men who know the strength in connecting to his feelings & with the ability to freely express them, not numb mutes.
Perhaps if tearful little boys were hugged, nurtured, encouraged to communicate, seen & heard, respecting their truth, we wouldn’t have so many angry, broken, lost, traumatised & struggling men.
Something to ponder
Love, light & blessings
